Crux Retail is a versatile business of makers. They build dynamic retail displays so that products can stand out. During that process, they wear a lot of hats. They design, engineer, prototype, produce, package, and ship those retail displays to stores all across the country. Just like the objects they create, they need a space which can facilitate many different processes at once, in a way that allows the most efficient workflow, while remaining simple and intuitive.

The existing 32,000sf industrial building was renovated to accommodate offices towards the street with fabrication and warehousing in the back. The circulation throughout the building was carefully considered to reflect the way everyone works. All the employees and visitors enter into the main two story lobby. The design studio is located upstairs in a vaulted open space and the fabrication offices are located on the ground level right off of the warehouse and print room. New windows were installed to provide natural light into the entire space. The entry stair is wrapped in perforated plywood designed and fabricated by the Crux team. Visitors enter through the wood feature wall into a conference room and product showroom.

We lifted a single point in the open office ceiling to create as much height as possible upstairs. As you walk up the stairs, the spacious ceiling welcomes you.
